REPUBLICAN LIKE ME!

The United States is a nation of 300 million people and only two viable political parties. Politically, our nation is split evenly down the middle and, unfortunately, it seems increasingly that we define ourselves by whom we disagree with. This one hates George W. Bush. That one hates Hillary Clinton. Where is the dialogue?

In Republican Like Me, journalist Harmon Leon, an avowed "lefty," seeks to bridge the gap. Inspired by John Howard Griffin's 1950's classic, Black Like Me, and in his inimitable gonzo style, Harmon undertakes a transformation in appearance (involving a haircut and necktie) and becomes a joiner.

He volunteers for Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign for governor. He spends a weekend in the woods shooting guns with the National Rifle Association. He mans the picket line at an abortion clinic and he even works as an intern at Fox News! Harmon's adventures as a double agent are often humorous, at times outrageous and always illuminating.
